Australian Baking Team

June 22nd, 2011
The announcement has been made and we are sad to say that Australia wasn’t the final team selected for the 2012 Coupe du Monde del la Boulangerie. We were up against big budget teams who had been practicing intensively for a long period of time but it didn’t stop us from giving it a red hot go!

We will now begin on the road-map for classes in the coming year and on planning for a national identification and selection process for the next team who will compete in the next edition of the Louis Lesaffre Cup.

I wanted though to take the time to recognize and thank all those involved in the training, support and sponsorship of the Australian Baking Team.

To our families and friends and staff, thank you for your unconditional support, it has been a difficult process with much time away from loved ones, and businesses. The understanding, and flexibility you have all shown made it possible to achieve everything we did.

To our amazing sponsors, thank you for your support, trust, and faith, we appreciate you very much and assure you of our ongoing promotion, and development of our professional relationships. We will personally and through SCBG continue to put back into the baking community, all that has been learnt through this incredible experience.

To the organizers of the Louis Lesaffre Cup, you do an amazing job, your passion for the promotion of increased skills and knowledge through competition,  and the sharing of knowledge between bakers all over the world is to be admired and commended. Thank you from all of us here in Australian Baking!

Last but not least my Team mates, Will, Trevor and Rob, what an incredible group of guys you are, I am privileged to have had the opportunity to spend time with such amazingly talented human beings. This journey and experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life and it is the beginnings of many more to come I’m sure.

Thank you all so very, very much, onward and upward,

Brett Noy
Team Captain

General Announcement from The SCBG Committee

May 21st, 2011

Many of the committee have been involved in the organizing, and coaching of the team for the Louis Lesaffre Cup in China. It has been an incredibility busy period for us, the Australian Baking Team had their 2nd last practice session this past week at Hamilton Tafe in Newcastle. We were visited and observed by many members of the NSW baking industry and got to speak with a number of their apprentice classes. We were able to explain what we were doing and the benefits it would provide for the future, we were also able to talk about SCBG and encourage them to continue to seek further skills and knowledge through the many opportunities that exists within Australian Baking and also those internationally.

SCBG president Brett Noy has recently returned from judging at the African Mediterranean round of the Louis Lesaffre Cup, this has given the Australian Team great insight into how to best compete and the expectations and requirements of the jury. The Australian Baking Team will fly out on the 22nd of May and compete on day 2 of the competition on the 27th, final results will be announced on the 28th of May.

You may well notice that we haven’t posted any photo’s as yet, we are keeping everything under wraps with product and recipes top secret at this point, once we have competed though all recipes will be sent out to SCBG members and sponsors as well as photo’s and video from the competition itself.

We have been now able to finalize our sponsor list and they are recognised in the Louis Lesaffre Cup news section. Please support these companies at you every opportunity, they are supporting Australian Baking and are genuinely interested in seeing things develop and grow for the future, we thank them for their support, vision, and co-operation.

The team has their final practice at Hamilton Tafe in Newcastle starting May 16th before flying out. We will post results as soon as they are to hand.

Regards,

SCBG Committee
